The third annual River Rat Paddle Challenge on the historic Ouachita River will be held on September 29, 2018. Proceeds will benefit Horse Assisted Therapy Services of North Louisiana. We hope to have over a hundred racers participating in this year's event. The race will be about 6 and a half miles long and will include divisions for paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks (multiple lengths/styles) for men, women, and children.
Horse Assisted Therapy Services of North Louisiana, Inc. provides therapeutic horsemanship instruction to people who are “differently-abled.” We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization incorporated in 2009, and we are located in Calhoun, LA.
We will be giving out "special awards" for our Rat Pack Teams in the areas of Largest Team (as measured by number of River Rats on your team, not girth!), Fastest Team (determined by the finish time of the third team member), and my personal favorite, Spirit of the Ouachita (as determined by the amount of fun your team is having, costumes or paddle decor, or however you show off your River Rat style). What is YOUR definition of a river rat? We don't hide our crazy around here! We put it on the river for all to enjoy!
